Many thoughts and insights stayed with everyone who attended the Tolerance Conference, which was held at the Reut School. For perhaps the first time, the attendees were able to participate in dialogue that involved differing opinions, but was real and respectful. The conference was opened by Eitan Moran, SAE’s General Director, and Erez Ambar, Reut’s principal. MKs Shelly Yachimovich, Chairperson of the State Control Committee, and Binyamin Begin, member of the Constitution, Law and Justice Committee and the Committee on the Status of Women and Gender Equality, spoke at the event. Following their speeches, a panel discussion was held, with representatives of varied organizations involved with social connections in Jerusalem, including: Dror Amadi from the “Shabtai” organization, Merav Stein from “A Window to Mt. Zion,” Elhanan Kotler from “Tarbut,” Rabbi Chaya Becker from the Ramot Tzion congregation, Omar Elian from “Neta,” Elite Mazeh from “Beitar Nordia Jerusalem,” and Nicolas Touboul from “Blue & White Human Rights.”
We would once again like to thank all the speakers, and hope for continued dialogue of tolerance.
